Legend Tripping

“Do you want to hear a spooky story?”

Everyone has a story. Personally, I’m always on the lookout for a new tale to tell. Since I was a kid I have always been fascinated with urban legends and popular mythology. But it’s not every day one gets to investigate Loch Ness, the Pine Barrens of New Jersey or the forests of the Pacific Northwest. One thing that can be done with great ease is looking for ghosts.

“It was a night just like this, forty years ago…”

I can almost guarantee that the town where you grew up had a “haunted house”. Allegedly, some horrible atrocity occurred there resulting in an incredible story that scared the bejeezus out of the younger version of you. It’s the best kind of legend, one that allows itself to be explored. Many myths remain just that due to the distance from our prying eyes. The brilliant thing about hauntings is you can find the location, look into the history of the location or the events that made it so notorious, and even investigate the site! This process is commonly known as LEGEND TRIPPING.

“And it’s said that if you walk by, late at night, you might still see her spirit in the window…”

LEGEND TRIPPING is nothing scientific, it’s simply a way to look at storytelling and dig a little deeper to discover the roots of a fantastic story. By researching, investigating or even just telling the story, you become part of that legend. In the future someone might tell this tale while sitting around the campfire and mention YOUR name. That is what LEGEND TRIPPING is all about, being part of the story.

Now, get out there and have an adventure!
